I've been browsing the web and I came across some recipes for lotion bars. I've noticed that a lot of the recipes call for beeswax why is this? Does the beeswax work as a binding/hardening agent?

I apologize if this is explained somewhere...I've been trying to do a search for "lotion bars" on here, but I'm not getting any results. I think the words are too common? Not sure.

Beeswax makes your bar hard. Personally I use other waxes as beeswax also doesn't absorb and it can leave your lotion bar with a greasy feeling.

Ah ok thought so. So there are other waxes that are safe for the skin? I think I might have to try out a lotion bar recipe definitely seems fun/interesting!

Carnauba and Candilla waxes are usually the most common. But you only need half the amount of beeswax as they are harder.

What about soy wax...are any of them skin safe? I keep seeing EcoSoya wax on a bunch of sites. Sometimes it will say specifically made for candles, but I read on one site it is good for massage candles. So I just wanted to make sure.

Not all soy wax is cosmetic safe. I would email the vendor and ask.
