I can't even count how many times this has happened to me. WSP has great prices for some things, and others are crazy expensive. On the other hand, I just paid I think $1.00 for 2 ounces of kaolin clay from BB where for around $2.00 I can get a whole pound at WSP.

I have a spreadsheet where I keep track of all my supplier prices for varying items. Before I purchase anything, I double check that the lowest on my spreadsheet is still the lowest price...

That's a good idea. There are few things I order regularly, and I normally double check pricing / sales at other vendors before hand anyway.

I usually don't buy unless I'm making a big order and often times find it works out cheaper to just spend a bit more on an item from where I'm purchasing from at the time, than to order elsewhere and pay for shipping. I also always keep an eye out for discount codes. One supplier recently had a great deal on food grade lye, so I bought it and used a coupon code for 30% off shipping, too.

This is probably in the wrong place, but as I wanted the lanthanol for bath bombs, I put it here.

There are some things I buy regularly from each supplier, but some things vary. I had a spreadsheet going when I first started, but I've let that slip.

I remember buying items from WSP about 2 years ago, and I don't remember the prices being as high as they are now. I realize that it was 2 years ago, but w/ the free shipping it seemed to be fantastic deals.

I have a hard time buying from places other than WSP. I'm 20 minutes down the road from them so I get 20% off everything because I can pick up...the same day. Instant gratification is hard to beat. But I've been eyeing BB's beer FO's and that silicone mold that makes the 4 oz cubes....I'm gonna give in before thanksgiving I'm sure. Lol. I NEED to make pumpkin lager soap.

it's been in a BB wish list for three weeks. Pfft. Lol

Aaaaaand...I can't buy any any supplies until I sell a crap load of soap. I just paid for business license/vendors license/restocked 50 lbs of base and a bunch of other stuff/paid my webhost fees/packaging/etc. I'm pretty strict with my budget. Ive built this business in five weeks starting from a $20 investment in supplies and a block of beeswax I had in my cupboard...

Buuuuuuuuttttt....BB will be the next place I order from. I just submitted my application to a big juried Cleveland show and if I get in there I WILL have cube shaped beer soaps in honor of Cleveland's Great Lakes Brewery Co....
