Teach Soap

If I wanted to add extracts and vitamins to shampoo, when would I do it? I've found info that says to add it to the pot before the cook, and info that says to add it to the shampoo at the end with the FO/EO. The internet is confusing me again Also contradicting info on when to add colloidal oatmeal. I keep looking over my notes and it really isn't helping. Wish my liquid soap book wasn't in a box in Canada waiting for me to get my greencard

Some extracts are temp sensitive and are added at cool down. So you will need to take a look at each ingredient and see how temp sensitive it is. Oatmeal is much harder to preserve. I would leave it out for right now. If you decide to use it, you can add it to the water phase.

Would wheat protein be easier than colloidal oatmeal? I have both.

Opinions, if you will. I don't want to superfat my shampoo, so I've set that to 0% in the lye calculator. Adjust the pH with citric acid, or borax? I've seen both used commonly, and simply can't decide which way I want to go. I know that borax also thickens the soap, and I'd need to use salt or crothrix with the citric acid (depending on the recipe of course). I'm aware that it is a personal choice and probably highly debatable, but any opinion would be great!

My recipe will include:
olive oil
neem oil
babassu oil
castor oil
shea butter (maybe, not decided yet)
horse chestnut extract
chamomile and/or calendula extract
vitamin E oil (probably)
preservative (liquid germal plus probably, also have phenonip)

Not sure if anything there will sway the choice one way or another, so I figured it best to list them! The extracts will be either 1 or 2%.

Oh yes, is sequestering the soap necessary? I know some folks sell or use it straight away, but my book says you need to sequester it for a couple of weeks before use. My BB liquid soap video and e-book don't mention this.
