Hello....I have a couple of questions

Does anyone have any experience with putting the cold process soap in the microwave to expedite the "curing" process?


Is it safe to lightly coat a PVC tube in petroleum jelly?

Microwave will melt your soap. It won't help with soap curing. There is no accelerant that will speed up the process, but discounting your water helps. I don't use anything on the inside of my round PVC mold. I stick it in the freezer which helps to get the soap out.

I purchased the soap making book and there was a small section that indicated you can place the soap in the oven after it has been turned off at 170 degrees for 2 hour or overnight. It then stated the soap would be ready to use immediately.

I will try the freezer method.

We call that CPOP; cold process oven process. From what I understand all this does is force gel phase. The soap still needs to cure for 4-6 weeks.

I put a very thin coat of petroleum jelly in my pvc pipe, then put freezer paper inside it, wax side out. I use a metal water bottle to push on one end, and it slides right out. Before, I had tried freezing it for two days, and almost had to destroy it to get it out.
