I have the baking soda and citric acid. Looking for a simple bath bomb recipe that doesn't use cornstarch? Is sunflower oil a good oil to use to make bath bombs? I also have some butters, shea ,cocoa, would those work in place of the oil?

Thanks, i found that site, they use witch hazel, I am looking for some that use oil instead. Is there a basic formulation that you can make up your own recipe with?

this is recipe that I use

1 1/2 cups baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid
2 teaspoons Sweet Almond Oil
1/2 teaspoon water

Color & scent


I've also added a small about of SLSA to the above recipe when I make bath bomb cupcakes. If you just want fizz and no bubbles, then I wouldn't use the SLSA.

Use your recipe and just sub arrowroot powder for cornstarch

For my bombs, I just use baking soda, citric acid, sweet almond oil, fragrance and colour. By the time I mix everything together, I don't even need witchhazel because it's moist enough.

I only use water to bind as I find that witch hazel is an expensive form of water anyway. It works even better and there is no yucky smell, works like a charm. Adding a tsp of oil before binding with water makes the bombs more moisturising and lovely.
