I can only buy large amounts of product from BB to counter the costs of shipping. I would really like to start making bath bombs. But I didn't order any laBomb colorants. I was wondering though... Michael's has a glycerin based dye for cake icing. Would be a possibility to use these gel dyes in bath bombs?

Do the gel colorants have an ingredient label? If this is just for you, go ahead. If this is for sale, I would wait and get BrambleBerry's colorant. Be aware that if you use too much of the color from the craft store, it can bleed or stain the tub.

Some people color their bath bombs with Wilton gel colors. I have used colored clays also.

My granddtr had a bath fizzy that was commerically made, about the diameter of a dime but thicker. Its purpose was to color the water the color of the tablet. Any ideas on what they would have used in this? It did not stain her skin or the tub.

Took a look at the site and the confetti was not what she had, but there was a product called bath tints that is it. I looked at the ingredients and do not like some of them but the colorings are all FD&C colors. So I figure that the lab colors or labomb coloring may be the way to go. I would just have to experiment to get the percentages correct not to stain the tub or her skin. Does anyone who makes regular bath fizzies find that they will color the tub water?

I have a few friends' kids who love the fizzies because they color the water. a 6 year old recently complained that it wasn't colored enough for his taste. kids. they're so demanding ;-) I use FD&C blue from BB, as well as other lake and FD&C colors from other online soap supply places. I don't use mica cause it tends to make the tub mucky and hard to clean.

Thanks Aubrey, that kind of what I was thinking of. So have you ever colored the kids by accident. My dtr is fairly easy going so she would not freak out if it happened, but I might!

I know someone that colored one of their kids smurf blue in their bath. Does that count?

yea, can you imagine coloring someone's kids like a smurf?! lol

I'm really careful that it's not over colored, a little goes a long way. I usually throw some in a bowl of water before I mold to make sure my hand doesn't turn blue. I figure if it doesn't turn my hand blue in a concentrated environment(just a small bowl of water), it surely won't in a tub full. So far all the kids like the FD&C blue best, so i tend to use that despite the scent when making stuff for them. For my own personal bath bombs I've been experimenting with other colors to see how they come out for when I start incorporating them into market selling.

My daughter gave me some bathbombs that turned the water a pretty blue. I liked it as an adult so I could see how the kids would like it. Kind of reminds me of a tropical getaway.
