Has anyone ever used St. Ives Eye and Face Stress Gel? I'm trying to create something that I can barely describe. AHHHHH!!! I had a request from someone to create a body gel, with fragrance and a shimmer, that has no oily feel at all. She requested that it feel like aloe vera gel being applied and said she's been using St. Ives but wanted a specific fragrance and shimmer effect. I'm at a loss. I am pretty comfortable with lotions, butters, balms, etc., but this is all new to me. Does anyone out there in the beauty world have any suggestions?

I would experiment with polymers for their gelling action and aloe juice you can get at the health food store. Since it's water soluble, you would need a preservative. Try mica for color and shimmer (or skin safe glitter). Depending on fragrance used, you might need some polysorbate with the fragrance first, so it mixes better. Be aware that some fragrances might cloud the gel.

Hmmmm.....I've never used polymers. Where would I find that? Polysorbate? Are these natural? I'm a lost one here...

You can find polymers and polysorbate at lotioncrafter.com No, they are not natural. Xantham gum is a natural thickener, but it will not give you a clear gel. I'm not sure if it would thicken aloe. I've never tried it.
