I am really trying to find citric acid that is close to me, I have ordered it from places like BB but becasue of the weight, the shipping is ridiculous, but that is with any online company. I though places like grocery stores would have it, I live i Charlotte, does anyone know where to go to actually buy it? Any help would be appreciated!!

Shipping costs for those heavy things can really be a setback... I hate to recommend any site besides BB, but www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com has free shipping for orders over $30. Their products tend to be a little more expensive to make up for the free shipping, but with heavy stuff like citric acid, it's often worth it.

In the baking/canning aisle there is a product called citrus fresh (or something similar) it's mostly citric acid, but you will be paying through the nose for a small jar.

If you have a home-brew shop near you (place that sells stuff to folks that make their own beer and wine) that's a great place to get citric. I have a home wine shop near my house and pay about $8 for 5 pounds. Also, if you have any small wineries near you, you might ask where they get it, or if they can spare a pound or two.

I have gone to the Alternative beverage shop, there's actually two of them pretty close to me, they are kind of far away though, but I guess this will have to do then, I was hoping for something closer but, oh well, just have to make that trip then!! Their 5 pound bag costs $23.00, I am trying to costs wherever possible. Some of the online web sites have them cheaper by the pound, it's just the shipping!!! Wholesales Supplies Plus thinks they're slick though!! They are charging an exorbitant amount of &6.75 for a pound of citric acid!! That is highway robbery, and that is basically the shipping price, which doesn't mean free shipping to me!! I also placed an order from Camden Grey, but they only offer UPS, and they're ground shipping can be hefty as well. Thank you everyone for your help, as usual!!
