OK... I decided to try out making the solid sugar scrub that Anne Marie has on her SoapQueen TV episode
http://www.youtube.com/user/soapqueentv ... wISdSEsBbE
I followed the instructions as posted, and while I as doing this, all I kept saying was... d@mn.. that's ALOT of oil for this amount of soap... But I make it as it says in the video (minus colorants and using my own fragrance choice). I have these cute little plastic packages/molds to put them in. But before I give any out on a test run as I do with everything I make, I try one myself..

Is it just me, or because of the amount of oil in these that there is no lather whatsoever unless I use a scrungie. But then that defeats the scrub part right?

Can someone please explain to this DUH about how these are supposed to work?

You break a piece off and massage onto skin, especially thighs and bum and general wibbly bits you want toning! They can help with cellulite and they also exfoliate and make your skin look brighter all over.

You would probably need to add an extra surficant to get lots of lather. I get a little bit from mine, but not masses (though I think I may have added a little cocamide dea, a gentle surfectant). Its the sugar that's scrubbing you mainly though.

I agree with you, once I was done the soap had an unappealing overly-oily texture. I cut it down to 1-1/2 oz on my next couple of batches and it feels better. Hopefully this hasn't made it too scrubby.

I don't think any of my scrubs lather much. Should they be lathering? I usually keep my scrubs simple, focusing on oil and sugar. I like them to be as exfoliating and moisturizing as possible. Have you tried coconut oil? I put that in my soaps to create a richer lather.

They don't lather very much. They're not for washing with, just for exfoliating with.

I too had cut down on the amount of oil and that seemed to make them look more appealing. I have sold a few on my Etsy shop and mine does lather pretty good, somewhere on here is the recipe that I tweaked for moisturization, washableness (is that a word?) and scrubiness. Give me a second and I will try to locate it.

Thanks for posting your link, Sonya. I've had some trouble with solid sugar scrubs because they end up too hard....I'm going to give your recipe a try. Thanks for sharing!
