I'm not sure if anyone has asked this befoe... I am interested in knowing you guys' opinion. Do you think it would be a good idea to color coordinate scents to colors? If I sell Absinthe cream or soap, would it be ok to leave it the natural color that it is? For example, I know that it is more appealing to the eye to make it a light green, but is it ok to not color anything like scrubs, lotions, creams or bath whip? I value everyone's opinion and thank you!!

As we like to say here, do what you like to do. I only have two soaps that I color, one with alkanet root powder and one with Austrailian pink clay, but everything else is plain. I get a lot of brown tones from some of the fragrances I use or I use herbs and oatmeal, cocoa powder, calendula petals, etc..for added interest and texture to a plain bar. But on the other hand, if I purchase from another soaper..I do tend to buy the pretty colored, layered or swirled ones and I love the handpainted ones. I dont' color my lotions or my scrubs, just my personal preference on what I think looks good for the look I am going with in my labels and design....quiet, relaxed, spa time.., even my wrappers and labels are white with only black as the color.

I think it would look great in either white or green, if you could get a mould or soap stamp with a fairy design on, that would highlight it being absynthe soap. It would look spectacular if you could even do the fairy in green on a white soap! Sorry... getting carried away with thoughts of pretty things!

Where did you get the absynthe fragrance from? Sounds like fun... I might have to make one like that myself!

For creams or lotions I prefer for them to stay white.

Thank you everyone!! @Magia, I get my Absinthe oil from Natures Garden Candles. I am wondering about the colorants because sometimes I make the soaps or whips and I try not to be like everybody else, but I must admit that I do like the colored soaps when I do my personal search!!

You can use oils in your lotions that add a little color, one of my lotions are made with rosehip seeed oil and cranberry seed oil ,it gives the lotion a golden yellow tint which is very pretty. Someone once told me not to just make things that I like as everyones taste is different, I would not have included a chocolate scent into my line( but at someones suggestion ),it is a popular seller,so I say diversity is key.

You could maybe try Soap Queen's embedding technique,(http://soap-queen.blogspot.com/2009/07/ ... luble.html) with rice paper/water soluble paper. Then you could find a green fairy you like the look of, which noone else has used on a soap before, print it out, and use that on a simple white soap. You could even have funky writing on it saying Absynthe.
