Teach Soap

I'm undecided between what emulsifier, thickener, and preservative to use in my lotion.

For emulsifier, I was thinking about using either Polysorbate 20 or emulsifying wax, which is better?

Thickener: either polysorbate 20, stearic acic or xanthan gum

Preservative: probably phenonip and grapeseed oil


I used to buy the Organic lotion base from Brambleberry , but I see they don't carry it anymore, so I'm thinking about attempting to make my own lotion from scratch.

Any help would appreciate it!

E-wax is more forgiving than polysorbate, unless you know the HLB values for all your ingredients. I normally use cetyl alcohol for thickening. Stearic acid is a co-emulsifier. Make sure you have an accurate scale for your phenonip, because if you add to much, it can be irritating. Grapeseed oil is not a preservative.
