I had a friend over who put together some lip balm. she used bramble berry flavor oil and I think she might have put too much -- she said it's burning. Any ideas what would cause that? We used .04 oz cocoa butter, .02 oz beeswax, vit E and flavor oil(coconut and buttercream). we were pretty much just fiddling around and didn't measure much of anything, so that's our fault.

Flavor oil can burn at higher than recommended amounts. I sugest that you get a scale. You'll get better measurements that way.

I have a scale. So I guess the assumption was true -- too much oil. Thanks for the input.

Always, always go by weight. Teaspoons or cups are not accurate.

How do you weigh something like a very small amount of powder though? Put a paper down on the scale? Or do you just use a small glass jar and zero it out.

you can use any container you like and just zero out your scale first. =)
