Teach Soap

Hello,

It's been forever since I last posted. The soap biz is going strong. Recently (eh-hem, very recently) I branched out into making lotions. I made the first batch yesterday and would like to have all of my scents ready for the next market. I was wondering if it's possible to use FD&C colorants in lotions, and if so in what amount. I can't imagine what harm two or three drops of food coloring could cause a lotion base, but I don't want to mess it up.

I would not use food coloring as it usually has other ingredients; like sugar. Germies love sugar. I would only use FD&C colorants designated as skin safe (or soap safe). Depending how big each bottle of lotion is, a couple of drops should be sufficient.

I thought you had to use FD&C colorants only for lotions. I do. Some of them are quite strong and take very little like 1 to 3 drops and others take much more. You learn fast. I use green #5 and it takes very little.
