I just started with all this homemade bath stuff, learning a ton so thank you for all the info on this forum!

I'm doing M&P soap, bath bombs, lip balm, sugar scrub, etc etc. The bug bit me and I've gone bonkers. Will be trying my hand at CP soap soon....

Anway, just made my first batch of bath bombs.
1 cup citric acid
2 cup baking soda
1 tsp jojoba oil
1 tsp fragrance

misting with witch hazel, I molded and unmolded and felt pretty good. now they're sticking to the aluminum foil i put them on to dry (Bad choice? alum foil??) and blistering a bit on the surface. They seem a little gummy, my guess is a bit too much witch hazel? what do the experts think? =)

2nd question, can you buy citric acid in any stoes? Like walmart/target? I'm out right now, have another pound on the way, but the shipping&handling of all my supplies ordering is killing me slowly. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Don't use foil to let them get dry. Use a paper towel instead. Citric acid can be found under Fruit Fresh in the grocery store, but it's spendy.

my guess would be too much witch hazel. you can add a bit of cornstarch to your formula to cut down on the gummy feel. and is there much humidity where you live? sometimes "warts" come from too much moisture in the air.

i forgot to mention its not very humid here. =) thankfully it's cooled off a bit. I will tranfer them to papertowels ASAP! Thanks for the tip! What about cornstarch? I've noticed many recipes that call for it, what does it do besides assisting with gummy feel, or is it purely for that reason?

it helps with the gummy feel, and it adds a silky feel to the water. maybe try one batch with it, and one without, and see which way you like it. Personally, I prefer it. :)

they've expanded/flatened a bit, definitely too much witch hazel which means........more for me! yay!

Thank you magichands for the info, that makes perfect sense and sounds like its better with then without the cornstarch! Finally, something i can find in the grocery store...

With the witch hazel, you want the texture to be like barely damp sand.
