So I bought a stainless steel meatballer online to make Bombs with. It Finally arrived today.
I was really excited to try it out, thinking I would get nice round Bath Bombs - Well not so much.

I overfilled it and squeezed it together really hard and both halves were nice and compacted, but couldn't get a whole ball no matter what I have tried so far, the sides keep seperating.

So would anyone (soapbuddy :) mind sharing the secret to this tool?

Thanks in Advance!

I pucrchased one a year or so ago and didn't have a lot of luck using it. How big is yours?

It is suppose to be 2", but I haven't measured it. Looks close though.

I pack it well and just slightly overfill. Then I use the small holes on each side to gently push the ball out while I'm slowly opening the two sides of the meat baller.

Hey Maila........how are you getting your round bath bombs if you're not using a meatballer?? I LOVE the round ones, although I love my tablets too..... I've been wanting to try those ornament balls, but jsut haven't gotten around to getting any yet.

I got my meatballer off of ebay, and well, if I hold my mouth just right when I push through the little holes, then I get a great bath bomb. Alot of times though, I still get the seperation of the halves. So mayhap I need to practive more with it too eh??

Steph-
I have the same problem whth the meat baller.. Out of 20 I will make with the round ornament, I might get one that worked with the meat baller. The acrylic ornaments work best for me.
I haven't tried making tablests, how's that done?

so this might be a stupid question.......but I have a million of those......lol

If it's sort of a pain for me to use the meatballer sometimes, ok, so like half the time, they come out seperated......how do you get the ball out intact? is there a secret to releasing it?

I was looking around the other day and found some cute heart shaped ornaments.....but again, how do you get them out?

isn't it sad too....that I LOVE making bathbombs. I like making them for myself though. I almost dread making them when someone orders them....<grin>

I have made heart and star bath bombs with acrylic ornaments. There's really no difference than using the round ones but making sure the ornament is clean in the corners before you make another one. They are really cool because it's a 3-D type bomb, not like when using a soap mold.
I will post some pics of the heart and stars.

I've tried using the acrylic ornaments, but over time they got etched from the fragrance and then the bath bomb would get seriously stuck.

The acrylic ornaments do get etched over time, some are better than others. I wash the ornaments in very hot soapy water right after each batch and they don't seem to etch as quickly. The ornaments they sell at Michaels craft store seem to last a lot longer then the ones I have purchased off Ebay or other online craft stores.

These hearts were made with acrylic ornaments I found at the Dollar Store, three in a package. I've been using the same ones for over a year.
In this stream of pictures, there's some older pics of bath bombs I made a while ago. There's a couple of starts in there.

Enjoy!
