I have a recipe for body lotion that calls for bees wax and emulsifying wax. Is it necessary to use both? Or do they give different properties to lotion. I have never worked with emulsifier wax so do not really know of its purpose. Am wondering if I can get by with just the bees wax

Emulsifying wax is what gets the water and oils to mix together and not separate out. It is needed in the recipe.

If you use an emulsifier, you don't need beeswax. It would make the formula feel draggy on your skin.

Thanks so much for your info...I've never made lotion so I guess I sound kindof green with my questions

I have used a little beeswax in lotion for a thickener. I loved it, and since I wash my hands a lot, I felt like it gave the lotion extra staying power. That may be why both are called for.
