Teach Soap

Hello Everyone! Has anyone seen spots in handmade lotion? I recently made a batch using the Soap Queen gift tutorial found here:
The only difference is that I didn't use Stearic Acid and instead used shea (at twice the amount of Stearic called for).

Once packaged, I notice that each container of lotion has 2-3 orange spots that are visible through the side of the container.

There are two possibilities I've come up with for the spots:
1 - I attempted to use some mica I had on hand mixed with sweet almond oil. When I put in the drops, they turned to tiny balls and didn't mix in at all.
2 - The lotion was very thin (lack of Stearic, I assume) so I added some more shea and beeswax after emulsifying the initial ingredients. I have found a couple (literally two) little balls of beeswax in the lotion. It looks like it had re-hardened before fully mixing in.

My question is... what are the spots? Here is a photo of one of the spots:


Should I worry about the spots? The lotion turned out amazing and I'd love to still use it but I want to make sure I'm not giving anyone anything that may have gone bad.

It could be a fragrance that didn't get mixed in or it's the beginning of mold.
Anytime you add additional ingredients you need to adjust the preservative too.
You cannot add shea butter or beeswax after emulsifying ingredients. It changes the balance of the lotion.
I don't use beeswax in my lotion at all. It makes my lotion feel draggy.

I found out that the "spots" I was seeing through the side of the container are indeed beeswax that had solidified in tiny chunks rather than mixing in.

This is likely because I attempted make the lotion thicker by adding more beeswax after initial emulsion was complete. Lesson learned on adding anything after emulsion, as well attempting to mix a melted solid (beeswax) into cool finished product. Thank goodness the "spots" are ok!

I made another batch yesterday and it turned out awesome! I started with the increased amount of shea, avoided beeswax altogether and recalculated my preservative to ensure the correct amount was added. Thanks for the tips!
