Hi there I'm new to making body butters and I have just recently made a batch but I found by body butter got hard. Do you think by melting the butters it went that way? Is it better to just whip your butters raw rather than melting them down? I used coco, Shea and mango. What did I do wrong? Please help

All three are hard butters. You need some liquid oils in your recipe.

I have been making body butters for a while. Be careful not to compensate by adding TOO much liquid oil. I add about 5%. I have used grapeseed oil, but I will try Meadowfoam oil next, since it is supposed to extend the life of the product.

Recently my batch of body butter became grainy. I have read that the butters may need to be tempered first. Can you explain how to do this?

Temper your butter like you would temper chocolate. You can find instructions online.
