Teach Soap

Hello I am a newbie here. I recently made body butter using shea butter, mango butter, meadowfoam oil,vitamin E oil, tapioca starch and some coconut Fragance. I love the way it came out except it doesn't seem very moisturizing. Is there anything I can add to it to make better?

I would reformulate the recipe and add either some olive, almond, grapeseed or coconut oil.

Or, you could try leaving out the tapioca starch. I find that I dislike the feel of powders - like tapioca or cornstarch, in my body butters. They are supposed to cut the greasy feel, but I find that the powdery afterfeel that they have leaves me feeling dry.

Some people love them - it is very much a "personal preference" kind of thing.

Some people love anhydrous body butters, but I find that body butters made with all oils & butters don't work for me. I need something with water and a humectant in it to relieve my dry skin.

I agree about the tapioca starch I think that leaves a drying feel.

What Linda said: give me some good ol' glycerin in my body creams.

Unless you use an emulsifier and a preservative, glycerin in a waterless balm will seep out over time.
