Teach Soap

I am trying to place an order from Brambleberrry.com for a few items. 15 to be exact that consist of some new projects I am going to be working on within the next few weeks. I am really excited.

What I am not excited a bout is the shipping cost 23-25 bucks just to ship these items. Is there any reason why the shipping price is sooooooo much? I can sort of now see why the prices are much lower than on other sites for what you get. I am in New York City. Is the shipping cost realistic for the amount of items I am ordering? Because it still sounds out of range to me. I normally order from Organic Creations who IMO have a larger range of things I want, but they take three-four weeks BEFORE even shipping out your items and I cannot wait that long. Any other suggestions?

WSP has free shipping but jacks up the prices which compensates for their free shipping. It seems like there is no way around this no matter who I order from.
Any opinions on other places, lotion crafters, natures garden candles etc?

Is there anywhere that doesn't have outrageous shipping prices plus, a little bit closer to my location before I hit the "Place order" Button?


I also need a thermometer for my new projects and in the next few months I will be making some soap. I am soooo excited. before I was not interested in making soap because of the Lye, but there is a way to make soap safely. I will ask questions later on around the summer time once I have mastered the next four projects I am working on. But I need a thermometer and I checked Brambleberry.com who charges 22+ for their digital thermometer. Any suggestions on that as well?

I am in the market for a crock pot and scale that is accurate. The one I'm using now is not accurate. Any suggestions with this as well?

I checked Walmart.com for a crockpot but I want to know if buying a crockpot is one of those "you get what you pay for" kind of items or can I buy the cheapest one?

The shipping price could be because they are on the west coast and you are in New York. You can try here, but I still prefer BrambleBerry for quality, http://suppliersbystate.com/state-listings.php

I've decided to stick with Brambleberry.

Other sites either do not have everything I need. Or if they do have a wide selection, certain items are out of stock (I can't wait), or the amount of money that I spend for less products before or without shipping is more than what Brambleberry gives me for everything.

WSP wants 150 for a significantly less amount of products.
There are a few other sites i have tired who have done the same thing. I just cross my figures and hope I get my stuff quickly.

Now all I need is a Thermometer and a Scale. I will eventually get everything.

I also realized that if I am going to take my craft seriously, I have to spend much more money than intended.

If you have Harbor Freight nearby, they have laser thermometer for a reasonable price.

Shipping is the biggest reason I look around rather than just use BB. $20 shipping for 4 2oz bottles of fragrance is crazy Generally the shipping charges are higher than the price of what I want to order. This is why I continually vote for an east coast BB branch LOL

East coast BB branch would be awesome, Hestey!!! Especially if it was south-eastern coast...

If BB had an east coast warehouse I would order almost exclusively from them! They definitely have a lot of supplies that I need. Other companies that I use (because their shipping is faster and usually a little cheaper) have been out of stock on a lot of items I want lately, it's frustrating.

I just got a shipment from BB on Saturday, I was so excited until I realized that I forgot to order avocado oil! I have a few things that I need it for, and I usually don't place an order unless I need a few things to make the cost of shipping worth it, so I'll either have to wait or suck up the big cost of shipping.

Hi. I did order. I ordered the same day. I couldn't wait any longer but I will some more things soon so if you have any more suggestions that will really help. I need both soap supplies and supplies like butters and oils, waxes and stearic acids. I just need sort of a one stop shop. Not sure if that's realistic though.
