Can you tell me if Tapioca powder is the same thing as BB's Dry Flo powder? I want to make a Whipped Body Butter that calls for Tapioca powder, I don't have that but do have Dry Flo. Is it similar and I just use different quantities or can I use the same?
Thank you!
Sherri

I believe dry flow is corn starch based. What is the % of the tapioca in the recipe?

Okay, just to make things really confusing . . . .

There evidently is a Dry Flow that is modified tapioca starch, which has the INCI that I posted above AND there is one that is modified corn starch. (I made this discovery reading Swift/Susan's blog earlier.) And she says that she isn't sure if the corn starch one is still made by the manufacturer (Azko Nobel). She said the only place she could find that carried it is From Nature With Love, and they seem to be out of stock.

Don't know if that helped or only made things more confusing!

Thank you so much to everyone for your help! I'm going to use the whipped body butter recipe off of the Soap Queen blog:
14 oz. Avacado Butter
5 oz. Meadowfoam oil
1 oz. Gr. Tea extract
6 mL Lemongrass EO
5 tsp Tapioca powder

I have Dry Flo powder that I want to use in place of the Tapioca powder. I'm thinking it is the same thing!

If I search the Brambleberry website for Dry Flo powder the Tapioca powder shows up along with the kit to make this same recipe. I'm going to go ahead and use my Dry Flo!!

I'll let you know how it turns out - I've never made a body butter before. I've made lotion bars and the other night made lip balms which I love so now I'll make a go of this!!

Now that I'm ready to make it, I'm watching her video and she does use the Dry Flo powder so - end to my mystery!!

Blessings!!

I know that there are two sorts of Tapioca starch out there....

dry-flo : Tapioca Starch (and) Polymethylsilsesquioxane

Natrasorb Bath Powder: Tapioca Starch

my question is can natrasorb bath powder be used in whipped body butters to cut back on the greasiness, or would i have to go with the Tapioca Starch (and) Polymethylsilsesquioxane (dty-flo) for this product?

It is a matter of preference, or you could try cornstarch or a clay even.

Hi all,

Clay is another good option as it has excellent properties which assist with keeping your skin as healthy as possible. It even helps heal psoriasis and rashes.

I introduced it into my deodorant making and found that it works so much better on my sensitive skin than Bi-carb soda! I couldn't believe the difference!

Its also nice to know that Clay (or bentonite as it is also known) doesnt contain any aluminium.

Hope this helps.

Pete

What is bi-carb? I use baking soda and cornstarch. Sometimes if I nick myself shaving it stings but that could also be the TTO or peppermint I guess.
