Teach Soap

2/3 cup Brown Sugar, packed
1/3 – 1/2 cup Almond Oil
1/2 tsp. of Vitamin E
45-60 drops of Fragrance or Essential Oil

Mix almond oil, Vitamin E and fragrance or essential oil together in a glass bowl. Add the brown sugar and mix in well. Divvy up into jars and have a great time using it!

do I really need vitamin E? or can I use another light oil such as meadowfoam seed oil or avocado oil as I have those on hand? adn I was also going to use optiphen plus for the perservative? or should I use Phenonip instead??

I would add the Vit E AND a preservative if there is ANY chance that damp fingers, moisture from the bathroom or any water from the shower could get into it. I would go with Phenonip, since it's oil soluble. You can use any oils you like. Some are heavier then others re: greasiness.

I'm pretty sure that they have the vitamin e in there to serve as the antioxidant.
Since Optiphen plus isn't suitable for anyhdrous products, I'd go with the phenonip

ok phenonip it is as for vit E... I'm going to omit it as I dont have it on hand and my only question is since the recipe isnt in oz or mL what is the % of it I'll need
i know its .5 to 1% of it.. math is not my friend. lol

Take the total of all your ingredients and multiply it by 0.5% to get a 1/2% of the preservative.

I made this recipe and it leaked all the oils out of my continers.. couldnt reuse the ... even for my personal use... the oil wouldnt come off the jars or anything... I had 5 - 4oz double walled jars with lids in the trash. and all of the producted wasted. so back to the drawing baord.

Yep, for an oily sugar scrub you really need seals for your containers.

I prefer an emulsified scrub. It helps to keep the oils and butters and sugar all mixed happily together. I don't use vitamin e (I am allergic to it topically) and I do use phenonip as a preservative. It is a really nice scrub. Here is a link to the scrub that I started with and have tweaked to fit my needs....

That recipe seems pretty heavy in oil to me. I'd just decrease the oil.
