My only problem now that I figured out why my shea was going grainy is that my face lotion is too greasy. I want it a little greasy, but it sits on top of my skin for too long. The first time I made lotion I just added shea and vitamin E to a lotion base, and it was perfect texture and consistency. Then I found this board and learned that I'm probably diluting the preservative. So I have tried using different oils and butters but can't get the lotion the way I like it. I've been reading about lotions, and I'm afraid adding water and preservative will make it too thin, and I don't want to add too much to my facial lotion. If I get some kaolin clay to add in, will it cut the grease while keeping it a thick lotion without watering it down? Any other suggestions?
For this recipe I used Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Grapeseed Oil, and Vitamin E.
