I use the same recipe for almost all of my soaps (except Castile & 100% Coconut). So I expected to have the same results in all my soaps. Nuh-uh. The soaps I've made with FOs from one particular company seem to be more moisturizing, lather better, scent stays a bit on my hands after washing, AND the bar feels a tad bit harder. Am I imaging these results, or could it be that different companies put different ingredients/compounds (not sure of the right word) into their FOs which ultimately effect the end result of the soap?

I don't really know, but my best guess would be maybe they're using different carrier oils for the fragrance, and maybe that's what's making it different? Just an ounce or two of an oil like castor makes a difference, right? So why not the same amount of whatever carrier oil they're using? Like I said though, that's just a guess. :)

Fragrances should not have carrier oils added. That's adultaration. If you get a fragrance from a vendor and it has a carrier oil, I would look elsewhere like BrambleBerry. BB fragrances are not adultarated and never have been. Fragrances have many different components and constituents, so I can see that they could behave differently.

I totally agree with Irena. Fragrance oils do not have any carrier oil, however they contain solvents, perfume enhancer, stabilizers etc. Each fragrance oil contains some 100-300 ingredients and of course if you buy , let's say apple or ginger from 10 different manufacturers, which probably smell very similar, you'll have 10 different results regarding the viscosity, the stability, feel, etc. etc.

Oh, I'm sorry. I'd read on one or two other sites that they did have carrier oils. I must've been led astray! Sorry!

So maybe it's not all in my head after all. Perhaps these FOs do make a slight difference in the soap. I've soaped another one fro them, so will use it soon and see if my experience holds true.
