My samples arrived from NG today! I got fresh fallen leaves, acorn harvest and apple orchard for fall. They all smell really good, 'cept the acorn harvest. That one smells REALLY REALLY good! OMG mmm, I'll want to eat that soap! Only got one for Christmas yet, got christmas tree, it smells alright OOB. Suspect it will smell much better in soap. Though I'm not sure my family will want to smell like a pine tree.

And suggestions for another christmas scent? I have some of WSPs figgy pudding already, but I want to do 3 samples to start with. I couldn't decide what else might be really nice. Any vendor is fine to suggest (other than Camden Grey), I use all of them!

What about a mint, like peppermint?

I got one from WSP called North Pole that smells kind of piney and peperminty. It soaped really well. And their Hot Apple Pie smells heavenly! I need to learn how to make candles because I want one with that scent. :D

I also got Sleigh Ride and Cinnamon Sugar from BB. Both smell awesome OOB but I haven't soaped with them yet.

Candles are SUPER easy. Melt wax in double boiler, add colourant, add FO when at an appropriate temperature, pour into mold. I like the pre-pinned wicks (the have a metal anchor attached to them) you can dip the pin in the melted wax and use the wax to essentially glue the pin in the middle of the mold. You hold the wick straight with a wick pin or a popsicle stick.

Easy peasy! I've been doing candles since I was 10 (20 years), I love making them, but they just don't have the scientific appeal of soap! But I still make both! I would recommend eco-soy wax, or any other soy based wax. I started with paraffin waxes myself, but I find soy has a much nicer scent throw! PM me if you have any questions hehe.

Also I will have to get myself a sample of north pole! Sounds nice! Peppermint is one of my "stock" scents, I always have SOMETHING with peppermint. Its so clean and invigorating!

Thanks! I'll have to pick up some next time I get over to Aztec in Knoxville. I've done candles before (many moons ago!), but not with soy wax.

The North Pole FO is subtle - it's not strong pine or strong mint. hmmm I may need a candle out of that as well. :D

BB's Frankincense & Myrrh smells great in cold process. I tested it a couple weeks ago and so far no drastic discoloration and still smells wonderful.

I am planning on picking up BB's Holiday Candy and Sleigh Ride, and maybe one or two from WSP. Knowing me like I know myself, I will probably overbuy haha.

Try BB's Woodland Elves! Love it! Hollyberry is nice too. I'm only up to Fall scents so far. Chai, Pumpkin Spice, etc. I can't wait to hear how everyone's soap turns out. :D

Most of mine are 4oz. WSP had a 20% of FO sale a while back and I got everything on my wishlist that had a 4oz for under $5. There were actually quite a few! Then they jacked up their prices on -every- FO. Guess I wait until the next sale to buy more from them LOL
