Teach Soap

Hello everyone, I was making some facial soap with BB's "Wake Up Rosemary" blend and of course after I used it and then washed my hands with sme of the soap left in the container after pouring, I said to myself, maybe you should have checked if I was even supposed to work with it or not, since I am still actively and exclusively breast feeding Lillianna, my almost 6 month old. Should I be worried? I did see something about peppermint, now I am scared.

Call your midwife or NP.

Personally, I would only worry about taking it internally. in any case it would be out of your milk in...8hours? Its been a few years, but it's like your blood stream, and alcohol and other things don't accumulate, iirc.

As always, though, call a professional. The Internet is no place to get medical advice!

To be honest, unless you ingested any soap or fragrance oil, or you had it soaking into your skin for hours, you will be fine. I've not had any of that blend myself, but is the peppermint essential or fragrance oil? Doesn't really matter either one given the small amount, more just curious hehe.

I wouldn't worry. Yes there are warnings, but I was always told the warnings are there for the 'silly' (my naturopath used a more adult word lol) people. For the ones that drink it, use it on their bodies in a raw form, or the people that work with it 24/7 breathing in huge amounts.

I agree with Coolah. I tend to think the warnings on those things exaggerate what could happen and are for extreme situations, not just normal use. Maybe if you used soap with that scent every day for a month it would be a problem, but one use is probably nothing to get worried about.

But like anything, ask your doctor.

Soap is a wash off product. It wouldn't stay on your skin long enough. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you everyone, I was freaking out. I am probably the mother that the naturopath was referring to!! It was a combo of Peppermint, Cornmint Rosemary and a few Fragrance Oils, the description states that 30% of eo's are used. I got so nervous that I threw the bottle away!

Thanks Coolah, that is what I meant, the site says a blend f 30% EO's. I absolutely should be wearing gloves, I usually don't when I am doing the fragrance or EO pouring, because of this that practice stops today! Coolah, I hope to nurse for that long, does the baby bite you? Lillianna is 6 months and is starting to gum me and I panic thinking about when that first tooth comes in! Thank you for all your help ladies!
