Do my soaps as well? Is it different for melt and pour and hot process (I'll be learning hot process soon).

It depends on the oil used. I have my mother's soaps that are 20 years old and they are fine. Take a look at the shelf life of oils and choose the ones with the longer shelf life. One of the reasons why I don't use canola as it has a fairly short shelf life and can cause DOS in cold process soaps (HP also).
