Teach Soap

Can anyone tell me how to determine the percentage of eo that is safe for dogs mixed in witch hazel to make a bug replant for my dogs? They are all deferent sizes so would I have to make one for each dog per his/her weight? Thanks.

I have a dog. I am also a Certified Aromatherapist. I would not advocate essential oil for dogs or cats at all. The pH of their skin is different then humans. They also metabolize EO's differently. If you feel you must, the only thing I would use is a hydrosol.

Just because the products are natural doesn't mean they are truly safe for dogs. Dogs have a much keener sense of smell then humans do. If it smells great to you, it could be overwhelming to the dog. You do what you want, but I don't think this is a good idea.

|I wouldn't do it either, I used a handmade dog shampoo with tea tree in it on my dog and he collapsed and lost the use of his legs temporarily, it was scary, I no longer have EOs in the house, its too easy to get it wrong and do real harm. Your choice of course and their are probably people out there who know their stuff but too much of a risk for me nowadays.

Thanks again, but have been using and selling the shampoo for over 3 years and if you do your research and make your product safe it is much better than the chemicals the vet and stores sell.

I have done my research and prefer pure castille soap with no fragrance or essential oils. Dogs can't speak. They can't tell you if the EO or FO bothers them. All it takes is one time and you could have a big liability on your hands.

Really I get it but if done right it is no more a risk than anything else and that is why I have done research and continue to seek more information. This is why I asked for help. I know there is at least one person that has helped me with this in the past on this forum and I guess I will do a search and request her help through her knowledge. Thanks again for posting your concerns, but now just looking for the answer vs the concerns.
