How do I work backwards with a fragrance oil?

If I have say a 10 ml sample bottle of fragrance, how do I work backwards to figure out how much soap I can make to produce a strong scent?
So basically I want the maximum strength for that fragrance...

4 ml. is about an 1/8 oz. 14 ml's will be about 0.5 oz. So depending on the strength of the fragrance, that might be enough for 1 lb. of soap.

Let me see if I can post something that will make it easier for you Coolah when I get home tonight. It will be later though as I have a conference call with an out of state customer.

Ok, let's see if this makes it easier for you. This is just a general idea since the molecular weight of essential or fragrance oils can vary.

1 kilo is 2.2 lbs. To make things easier, let's assume that 1 kilo is 2 lbs.
Let's assume that you would be using a fragrance at 0.5 oz. per lb. of soap. That would make it 1 oz. of scent per kilo of soap. 1 oz. is approximately 28 grams or 29.5 ml's.

If someone uses 0.7 oz. per lb. of soap that would make it 1.4 oz for a kilo of soap. At that rate, you would need 39.7 grams
If someone uses 1 oz. of scent per lb. of soap that would make it 2 ozs. for a kilo of soap. 2 ozs. is 56.7 grams or 59 ml's.

Makes sense?

Yup, clear as mud.

It does make sense yup. Just means I might have to set up an excel spreadsheet for myself to do the calculations each time hehe. I bought the 'Best Mens' and 'Top 10' sample packs of BB scents, so I have 20 x 10ml bottles here hehe.

Oh yeah, I use google for conversions all the time. Unfortunately they don't help me when I ask them "I have 10mls of Wasabi FO, how much soap can I make?"

I'm super good at math, never under 100% in a class, and you know what? I can't do this either! My poor brain just goes "duh" when I try. I know how to do it, but its just not there LOL  I need a conversion table! This makes me feel kind of dumb!

The problem I see with making any type of a spreadsheet is that not all fragrances are used at the same strength. If you did them one by one, that would make for a huge database.

OK, easy peasy:

3% of your FO by oil weight corresponds roughly to .5 oz PPO
6% of your FO by oil weight corresponds roughly to 1 oz PPO (it's really 6.25) but why complicate the math?)

Weigh your FO - 10 ml is not necessarily 10 grams as the molecular weight of fragrances varies. However, for this illustration, let's assume you have 10 grams of FO.

With me so far?

If you want your FO to be 3% of your oil weight, you divide 10 grams by .03 (3%) = 333 grams of oils
If you want your FO to be 6% of your oil weight, you divide 10 grams by .06 (6%) = 167 grams of oils

Hope this helps. You can use any % you want. I often use 4% which is about .7 oz PPO.
