I absolutely love Mimosa, but I was wondering how it (fragrance oil) behaves in cp soap? Not specifically Brambleberry, just in general because I'm in Scotland and can get it here. Just asking becase one of the suppliers here has it on offer and I SO want to get it !

Could you contact the supplier and ask if they know how it behaves in CP soap? Many florals will cause accelerated trace or other problems.

Florals are often problematic in CP soap - they tend to accelerate trace and sometimes seize or rice. But this is just a rule of thumb - it can vary by supplier.

The Mimosa I found from another vendor who is a soap maker said it did accelerate trace but if you work quickly it is manageable. If you want a link to her place I'll be happy to give it but Idk if she ships international.

Perhaps if you use lower temps for you batch it would work for you. Prepare all ingredients ahead of time so you can move fast. Use miminum amounts of color/TD for your first small test batch with a tried and true formula you like. It can then be an experimental house hold soap for you and family! And you will all smell good! LOL just an idea for a win win!

I hope someone tunes in and answers who does RT coaping. I usually soap at 115*, rarely higher, but that isn't RT.

Depending on the oils or butter you use, I think room temp CP is harder. Your oils or butters can start to solidify, you can get a false trace or end up with stearic spots.

 Ok. I can shelve that plan then eh - maybe stick to mimosa for room or linen sprays. -- always snags but staying flexible is the way eh

I always rebatch for temperamental and/or expensive fragrances & essential oils. You may want to investigate that approach.

First, make your CP recipe. Do not add any fragrance. Pour it into a mold and let it set up (~24 hours). Grate it down with a cheese grater when it's fresh & soft (I do this within a week of the original recipe) because you get a smoother texture in the final soap (I've found). Then melt your gratings down in a double boiler or covered baking dish. Add the least amount of liquid (if any) as possible. The goal is to get it looking like a smooth thick pudding. Take it off the heat source and add your fragrance when your soap temp is below the fragrance/essential oil's flash point. Then get it into your mold asap.

Here's a more in depth link on rebatching: http://soapnuts.com/indexrebatch.html

Hope this helps.
