Hi everyone, I am new to this site. I would like to start making Body Butters/lotions and Body Sprays. But I am afraid of using it Fragrance Oils because if I use the Fragrance Oils, people don't think its natural. I wouldn't mind saying all of my products are 95% natural, and then I have this issue with Essential Oils. I would love to start mixing them to create long lasting scents, but I don't understand why they are sooooo bad and Fragrance Oils (being synthetic and all) not being bad. I LOVE some of these Fragrance Oils though. I would love to start ordering some samples of both. I have heard online that Fragrance Oils can be damaging to the body as well. Is this really, really true?

Are Essential/ Fragrance Oils safe to keep in my apartment when I am not using them? I have done much research on them and I am quite scared. Well I don't live in a house, I live in an apartment building. I would love to start mixing and creating, but I am just afraid from all of the stuff I was reading on this site. I went into wholefoods a few weeks ago and I smelled some of the perfume oils. They smelled EXACTLY like the butters and stuff I bought from another business.

I have also read that if you use SD Alcohol and Alcohol Denat in your products you need a Alcohol License to sell it. I live in New York City so I am not too sure how that is going to work.

What should I wash my hands with when done working with Essential/Fragrance Oils?

Thanks

Fragrance oils are not natural. To the granola crowd, any product you make with them, they will not consider any product with it natural. Whether FO's or EO's they need to be used in safe amounts. Your vendor should give you what % is safe. I've worked with fragrance and essential oils for many years and I consider myself healthy. I just don't believe everything that is posted on the net.

Fragrances are safe to store in your apartment. So go to town creating. Nothing wrong with that. If you need some ideas, google Rainbow Meadow Fragrance Calculator. It's used for essential oils. You can buy perfumer's alcohol online. Just as long as it's under a gallon, you won't need a license. Just don't use vodka (or equivalent).

When you're done with your fragrances, just wash your hands with soap and water.
