PS - Just my 2 cents - I wouldn't want to use something synthetic on young kids. Essential oils in very small amounts (but none for infants) is how I have always done it.

I guess that could be the case. My daughter used to have eczema really bad when she was a baby. We had to stop using the lavender baby wash on her. Of course it was commercial products. I will find out about the EO though. Good point. I really just want to be careful.

I think the "commercial wash" part would be a good clue here.

If you read up on Lavender EO you will see that it is one of the few EOs that you can put directly on your skin, full strength (without diluting it) without a problem. It is a very cool plant!

A lot of my customers use a very lightly Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey lotion on their babies. I make it with less than the average usage rate, and none of them have ever reacted to it.

I use a lotion made with distilled rosewater on myself and my little girl. I buy it from a local middle eastern market for about $2 a bottle and can make 2-3 small batches with it. It is natural, non-irritating (people drink the stuff), and has a light scent.

On the subject of Lavender EO, I've been very leery about using it since the on it affecting hormones came out last year. I know, you can find research about dang near everything, but it still freaks me out a bit.
