Teach Soap

My company had previously used Southern Soapers Night Blooming Jasmine and it was a killer dead on honeyed Jasmine scent with no floor cleaner, old lady or (excuse the language) cat pee notes. It was much beloved by our customers every spring/summer, but a year ago we had to cut it from our line due to the fragrance containing phthalates and our major wholesaler demands only essential oils, natural blends and phthalates free fragrance oils to be used. I know Bramble Berry caries a "Jasmine Dreams" but was concerned about the carnation and other floral notes. Has anyone soaped with this? Please let me know your take on it if you have. I've also tried Jasmine's (two differnet ones) from Wholesale supplies plus one smelled like the above mentioned cat pee and the other floor cleaner in the finished soap. The other one I tried was from Moonglow Candles and supplies, which smelled like Jasmine but faded unmercifully in soap. Any other suggestions are surely welcomed.

I'm also looking for a Bergamont Fo rather than the EO, I only use it as a blender and it seems almost silly to spend so much on the essential oil.

And last but not least I bought a soap from another company that smelled like the most heavenly orange tea cake...I wanted to eat the soap and I'm not one to typically enjoy the sweet foody scents but this one was to die for and I must make more soaps, lotions, bath bombs, and soy candles with it!

Is BB's Jasmine Dreams on the phthalate free list? That would be my first question since your major wholesaler wants only eo's or fo's sans phthalates.

I looked for a phthalate free list on the BB website but either I'm missing it or it's not up. You might email info@Brambleberry.com and ask for the list.

I had to email Bramble Berry long ago about it and they very kindly sent me the p-free list pretty quickly, and Jasmine Dreams is on it. Thanks for double checking me though!

Good to know. I need to send for that list. Sorry, I haven't soaped Jasmine Dreams but maybe someone else has.

I use Bergaptene free Bergamot eo from New Directions Aromatics. Bergaptene is the ingredient that causes photosensitivity in Bergamot eo. I dunno about a Bergamot fo. Doesn't look like BB has a Bergamot fo.

Orange: I use 5 fold orange and blood orange eo's. Some eo's are very comparably priced to fo's and I prefer them.

I have tried BB's 10x orange eo and I've never seen a citrus survive in cp soap like that thanks for the idea!

You're welcome. It looks like PV soap shoppe in FL has a Bergamot fo. Doesn't say if it's P free or if it has any other fragrance notes.

Well, let's see: 16 oz of Bergamot eo is $95.82 at BB. BB doesn't have the fo, OP is looking for the fo.

at PV 16 oz. of Bergamot fo is $35.20.

I have never bought from PV so don't have a vested interested in defending them, just saying, the fo is way cheaper than the eo.

Do you know of a vendor that has phthalate free Bergamot fo, Soapbuddy? I had a hard time finding one that has a Bergamot fo at all. WSP doesn't have a straight bergamot fo.

Also have you ever smelled/soaped BB's Jasmine Dreams? The OP is looking for a true Jasmine and has some concerns about the other notes in BB's Jasmine Dreams due to past experiences with other vendors. Thanks!

I have Jasmine from Nature's Garden. It's $13.95 per lb. I have Bergamot from Taylored Concepts, but I don't remember how much I paid for it. I haven't smelled Jasmine Dreams, so I don't know about that one.

BB's Chamomile & Bergamot FO is very heavy on the bergamot, IMO - it would work well for blending, I'd think.

For the orange tea cake scent, try BB's Rum Nut Cake - it's gorgeous! Cakey & orangey, but not sickly sweet & buttery like some of the cake-themed FOs out there.

Their bergamot EO is 16oz for $41.99 plus shipping (they offer priority mail @ $13.70). Don't know if that falls more in your price range if you're just thinking cost of EO vs. FO. They're on eBay too, just search for their store. Don't know if there's any price difference between the site and eBay. I'd imagine not but who knows.

Soapbuddy - can you elaborate on "awful experience"? I'm only asking because i've actually gotten a couple EO's from them in the past (just sample sizes) and haven't had a problem yet (knock on wood). I'm just asking for future reference so i know what to stay away from or if I should just not buy there again. Thanks in advance.
