I'm one of those people who has a lot of trouble with the overpowering smells of fragrances in body products. My skin is also a bit sensitive to Perfumes and Fragrances. But I like a hint of fragrance. It doesn't hurt my skin, and it still smells nice, and not overwhelming.

That's why I was wondering, the amount of fragrance that is recommended seems to usually be 1:16. (1oz to the pound) But I was wondering if that gives a nice "hint" of the smell to the soap bar, or if you can smell it in the next room over when it's cured.

I think for my first batch of CP soap, I might go fragrance free.

That can be a tricky question.... we usually recommend .7 to 1 full ounce of FO in CP soap.

However, a lot of fragrances are stronger or weaker than others so it can depend! If you want a softer smelling soap then maybe try .5 to .7 oz per pound? I usually make mine on the strong side though so I personally have not used that little before. :D

Fragrance free soap is great too! A lot more popular than some think!

You can always make some smaller batches... 1 or 2 pound sizes to kind of test out the strength. Check out how to rebatch too, that way you can go back and add more scent if you want stronger or add to more soap if you want weaker.

Thanks for the input. :) I'll try that out, the less quantities and the re-batching. :)

I'm sure it'll have to be a lot of trial and error. I will make soap fragrance free first. Re-batching is kind of cool too.
