Teach Soap

This has never happened to me before. I used BB Ginger Pear last night in my usual CP recipe at 0.5 oz per pound oils. It's my first time using this FO. Smells great. I did some nice green swirls and put it in the oven for an hour on low. This morning the top of my soap has pools of oil. I'm assuming its the FO, so I poured it off. On the bright side I migh be able to reuse it, but what went wrong??

I added the FO at very light trace, and a poured at light trace. Maybe I should have kept going to a thicker trace, but it was taking quite a long time. The lye solution was 104 and I usually wait for 100. Did I soap too hot?

I haven't used this particular FO before, but 104 degrees is not too hot to soap. I have had your experience with FO floating on the top. I think in my case it was because I didn't incorporate it enough. Sometimes the oil will soak back into the soap if you leave it for a day or two. You can always chunk up the soap and use it in another batch. The swirls chunked up might look pretty cool. Would love to see pics.

I already poured off most of the FO, hope that wasn't a bad idea. I did take a pic this morn but will have to upload after work tonight. Thanks!!

Are you sure it's the FO? Have you tested for zap? Did you get a true trace?

Not 100% sure soapbuddy, jusy assuming because I did put my finger in it (no burn) and it sure smelled like straight FO. But I just got home, haven't tested anything yet. And the 'oils' I did not pour off, appear to have gone back into the soap. So now I wish I had not poured anything off the top. Hopefully it's not a lost batch.
