I just got an email from a well known book author asking about discoloration. She's working on a milk based soap book and is finding that many of the fragrances she's using, despite not having a Vanilla smell, are discoloring just a little bit.
Her theory was that many of the fragrances that are discoloring just a little bit have a minute amount of Vanilla in them and that's why they are going colors.
I also think that if there is citrus or patchouli notes that the fragrance tends to go colors. Citrus goes orange, Patchouli seems to just darken a shade in my experience.
Off the top of my head, I couldn't think of any other coloration possibilities. Anyone else have any other ideas besides Vanilla, Citrus and Patch?
