I bought some essential oils at a barn sale. I have no idea how old they are. They are in darks bottles in a box. They smell ok.

Do I use the same rate of essential oil as I use fragrance oil?

I want to make a tea tree essential oil cold process soap. Normally I would use about 1.5 ounces of fragrance in my 28 ounces of oil batch. For best results should I buy new tea tree or use the one from the barn sale? They both smell the same.

That's hard to say since you don't know where the essential oils came from. Tea Tree has a long shelf life. 28 ozs. is less then 2 lbs. I would use 1 oz. of the tea tree for soap.
