Teach Soap

I read that mixing EO with a bit of cornstarch before adding it to the soap mixture helps to prevent fading of the scent. Has anyone tried this?

I tried it and it didn't work for me.

I have tried cornstarch, various clays, "anchoring" EOs...none work to a degree where I can tell, anyway. Some people swear by them, like litsea, but to me, I just smell the litsea instead of the thing I am trying to anchor.

I add 1 oz fragrance per pound of soap. Love it, is generally not fadey at that amount.

I'm fairly new to cp and I'm so tired of spending a lot of money on FOs and EOs only to find they have next to no scent in my curing soap! Any suggestions or names of some that actually stay? Thank you.

Lots of EO's stay in soap. Patchouli, Lavender, Litsea, Vetiver, Mint. I'm sure there are others. You need to know the safe usage of each essential oil and always go by weight. Teaspoons or Tablespoons are not accurate for soap.

Thank you. I think one thing I'm doing is not using enough. I don't care for highly scented soap and I'm fearful of irritating some ones skin so some I've used a little less than IFR recommendations. Others, however, I have used the full recommended amount and am disappointed in the fade. I appreciate your time and response.
