You've come up with a version of a sickening sweet cologne and you cannot come up with a more appropriate or imaginative name for it.

How about calling it brown sugar, hmm?
Or darkety-dark-dark sugar?
Or rot-your-teeth-with-sweetness sugar?

So glad I read the warnings and made a sample bar to see just how badly this discolors. Warning to anyone who is not aware - this stuff puts a cocoa powder/brown oxide mix in brewed coffee to shame for brown-ness. Where's those FDA goobers hiding? I have trail to put them on.

So, I don't claim to have any telepathic abilities, but I'm thinking you didn't like the Pink Sugar?

It does discolor quite a bit! It is named after the fragrance it is duped from so that people searching for it can find it.

I'm not sure where you purchased it but Bramble Berry always puts warnings in the descriptions of fragrances that discolor.

I think this is one of those fragrances that people either love or hate. It is one of my favorites, my husband can't stand it. Just depends on the person.

Yes, BB is one of the sites where I read the warning which is why I did a small bar test to see just how bad it was - and thank you all for that. Truly a great resource.



ETA. rereading my OP, I can see where my use of "you" might be construed to single out BB since y'all do sell this scent. Please note that I meant the general plural "you" to include all the fragrance oil suppliers who offer this dupe. While I understand perfectly why the name is what it is, I stand by my assertion that it is not at all a good name.

I love the fact that BB actually puts a PHOTO of a piece of cold process soap to show the discoloring.

Although they have a piece of CP soap to demonstrate how their lipbalm sweetener reacts in cold process.

Are there people actually using flavor oils in their soap? That's kind of weird.

For reference, this is 1 week after making the one tiny test soap of pink sugar fragrance. Taken today with my trusty cell phone (now you know why I don't post pictures of my creations, the real camera was lost in tornado 2013) No color additives in this soap. The test bar to its left is the wintergreen, patchouli, & ylang ylang. Both were made from the same batter and both still smell great. And please ignore the smooshed edges, I pinched it a little 2 days in to see how soft it was (much softer than the wintergreen one for sure)



ETA - this was at 8 drops in 2 tablespoons batter which today (one week curing) weighs .95 oz. So approximating a pour of 1 ounce that would be .65 oz oil (in this recipe) and .0175 oz scent or 2.7% rate.
