Hello all,

Newbie here w/fo coloring question. Wanted to see if anyone knew if there was some kind of centralized list of water white/water clear FO's for companies other than BB? I am trying to get a really, really clear base color - testing w/WPS and AHRE/Stephenson's crystal bases - I know SFIC makes one but it is reputedly a bit cloudier) and would like make sure the FO does not muddy the clarity. It seems like BB is the only company which actually lists which of their FOs are water white/clear (list and helpful SQ tutorial link below.)

Or if folks are interested maybe we can start a list of FOs that we know are water clear through testing? Not sure how often this comes up, I generally use colorants and don't worry about water clear/water white qualities, but need them this time.

By the way, think it is impossible to oversing BB's praises w/r/t customer service/info sharing/helpfulness, etc. They continue to amaze me, I got a package in which salt had spilled on some mp base blocks, called and left message, they called me back and replaced them w/different packaging the next day (thanks, Rachel!) I really have never encountered a company with customer service like this.

I would contact the vendor that you are considering purchasing from and ask what color (if any) a particular fragrance is. Same fragrance, but from a different vendor, can have a different color or be clear.

Thanks, Irena! This is goofy, I am little star-struck that you replied, I am new to posting here but have been reading for a while and you are such a celebrity here! See, told you it was goofy.

In the “no good deed goes unpunished” category, I have a follow-up question to you or anyone else who might have some input. I was going to order some ultra clear base from AHRE b/c I thought they sourced from Stephensons (their website description says it is Stephensons) and I seemed to remember reading somewhere that you could only order in enormous amounts from Stephensons.

When I went to check out/pay the postage to CA was really steep, so I googled for other suppliers, found a link to the Stephensons’ site and found that you can order in 25 lb blocks– as an aside it *was* cheaper in the end than AHRE, the base was a little more expensive but shipping was free. On the Stepensons site they call the base “HCVS ultra clear” but it is the only ultra clear they list under their soap base products.

Anyway, I compared the ingredients list and they are different (links below). So is the AHRE Stephensons ultra clear base different to the Stephensons “own” ultra clear base? I am really confused. Has anyone used both and found them different (and one preferable?) Any insight gratefully received. I hope this makes sense.

AHRE S’s ultra clear ingreds list: Purified Water , Glycerin, Sodium Stearate, Sorbitol, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES), Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Sodium Chloride.

Stephensons direct link ultra clear ingredients list: Aqua, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Stearate, Sorbitol, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Laurate, Sodium Chloride, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Sodium Thiosulfate, Pentasodium Pentetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate.

Stephenson's makes a variety of bases. Some of them are custom made to the vendor who sells it. So that could be why you are seeing two ingredient lists.
I don't know about Stephensons’ site, since I don't use their base. I use SFIC. SFIC needs around 250 lbs. minimum, so I order mine from BrambleBerry.

Gotcha, that makes sense, I guess the AHRE one is a custom blend. In truth, it actually looks better than the Stephenson one, but I ordered this afternoon. So in for a penny, in for a pound, or in this case 25 of 'em. Thank you for the input, Irena, that is good to know.
