Teach Soap

A national company has discontinued a scent that I adore. I can't find any fragrance oil online that is comparable. The name and description is: Breathe(r) Romance - Amber Myrrh; Sweet papaya wood, seductive myrrh and honeyed orange mingle in this sensuous fragrance. Sometimes I have to laugh at some of the adjectives, such as "seductive", but that is the description I found on line. Has anyone seen such a thing? I don't even think I've seen papaya wood as a scent anywhere..... Thanks in advance.

Is this based upon a scent from a perfumer's line of fragrance such as "Romance-type" by Ralph Lauren, etc...? Or, is this based on a non-trademarked, proprietary blend rather than a trademarked perfume or cologne "type" knock-off?

If I understand your question, the answer is it must be trademarked. I have noticed there are many blends to several (I assume) trademarked scents. I had hoped there would have a look-a-like fragrance oil somewhere. By the way, I wouldn't be going down this road except they have totally discontinued any and all products with this wonderful scent. (I wish I could pass the smell through the computer!)

"Smell-o-vision" would be so helpful in our business, wouldn't it!

Have you tried the Fragrance Oil finder website to see if they have it listed? They can help you locate a FO and seller if it's available. Otherwise, if I remember correctly, BB does occasionally do custom scents/FOs, but it costs big bucks to have one made. Don't know if you love this scent that much? Another alternative would be to find a custom perfumer that can make something similar for you to use but I don't know if they would be able to duplicate this scent exactly?

I looked on Fragrance Oil finder and didn't find anything; but thanks for the suggestion. As I mentioned in my first post, no one seems to have papaya wood either. I don't want to give up, but I guess I'll have to. Since I'm not in this to sell anything, I may write BBW and see if they have any products left over that they would sell to me. (There is nothing on their web site.) There are products on ebay, but I'm a little wary...

Good luck on your search! Yeah, I wouldn't trust some of the stuff they sell on Ebay - you don't know when the person bought it and/or if the stuff has been used/tampered with...

We have a lot of papaya trees in our yard, but I can't say that the wood has a smell to it. The tree sap though does have a slightly sweet but herbaceous woody smell to it - like the fruit mixed with a very mild wood smell like cedar? It's kind of hard to describe.

Maybe you can try mixing some different base scents/FOs to try and duplicate the scent yourself? Just a thought.
