Which do you prefer to use for a target market of young adults or teenagers.

Fragrance oils, or essential oils. I am looking mostly into citrus scents, grapefruit, lemon, peppermint.

I know there are benefits to using essential oils, but I am afraid of the harm it can cause. photo-sensitizing, possible burning sensations.

Since I'm 20 I now qualify the young adult market. :D

I honestly like food scents. Mostly fruit but I love to indulge in Dark Rich Chocolate from BB occasionally. I'm not a fan of perfumes really. The only one I've liked ever was the DKNY green apple perfume.

Hope this helps! Oh and not too much musk or else it makes everything smell like grandma. Not in a good way

I am 15 so I fit in too! while I hate most food scents alot of my freinds love them (mainly the vanilla based ones).
Personally I like fruity scents, florals(but I am a bit wierd that way and bias it is anna ROSE after all  ), and citrus. I don't like to many purfumy scents,(except Viva La juicy by WSP), and most of my friends do not like earthy scents either. Hope this helps!

Based on what my 16 yr old daughter likes it is Vanilla, White Musk, or dark florals. I don't know how to really describe dark florals except like maybe Orchid or something of the like. I had good luck with Summer Melon Spritzer at the craft show I did. The younger crowd really liked it. That was the one soap I sold out of.

Oddly enough, I offered bacon scented soap last year for the guys and I sold more of it to the young teen girls! They loved it... go figure.
Vanilla based and fruit scents are more popular in my area, as are scents like Japanese Cherry Blossom and Gardenia.

Around here, citrus is big for the teenage crowd. I use in soaps, which, being rinse-off, don't have the worry about photo-toxicity that a leave-on has. A citrus-geranium mix is really nice: the geranium has enough spice to cut the sweetness of the citrus, and the citrus keeps the scent from being too floral.

So you use essential oils? Let me get this straight, so if i use essential oils, and they are rinsed off afterwards, they are not photo-sensitive?

What about in bath bombs, sugar scrubs, soaps. Would you consider those rinse off applications?

And If i go the fragrance route, is it photo-sensitive?

I'm a teen! I probably like essential oils the best, especially citrus, peppermint, and lavender. I LOVE vanilla and coffee smells! As far as fragrance oils go, I like chocolate, and some spicy fall or Christmas fragrances. However, some fragrance oils bother me, give me a headache, and make my acne worse if I use them on my face, so I prefer essential oils. Essential oils are actually gentler on my skin than fragrance oils, if you're concerned about that. Eventually, I want to make my soaps with essential oils only.
