Teach Soap

My sister gave me a very thoughtful gift of fragrance oils. The company/brand is eternal essence, I searched and it doesn't look like anyone has brought it up here before. The website says they're safe in soap and candles, and for hair and skin. But I also know well enough that just because they say so doesn't mean it's true, plus they don't specify what kind of soaps.

Does anyone use this or what's the best way for me to look into it?

I have never heard of it, but the best way, I would think, would be to ask the company. If they don't have a web site w info, I would call and ask their recommended usage rates in cp/hp soap and see what they say. You can also check the scent review board for other people's opinions and experiences.

I've never heard of them either and I buy mine from quite a few. How long have they been in business? Looks like they only sell in 10 ml sizes. I buy mine in pounds.

PS. You know what bothers me on their FB page? They intersperse their fragrance oils with biblical quotes. If you are that religious, fine, but don't add it to your business page.

I find the religious posts distasteful also, it would definitely prevent me from following their page if I had been inclined to do so. Mostly it only bothers me because it seems irrelevant. It has nothing to do with their business, except maybe their name if they're meaning "eternal" in the biblical sense, but it's not exactly a prevalent theme.

I have asked them about it, hope I hear back soon. I'll feel bad if I can't actually use them in soap even though it's not really anyone's fault. I know they're not big enough to scent a whole lot of soap with, but being a gift and all I hope that I can.

They look to be a reseller of NDA's FO's. Their FO descriptions are the exact same descriptions that NDA has for their FO's of the same names.

Hmm, perhaps they've been private labeled without much originality? Coconut cream is one I have that I see on the NDA website, but another I have is Almond which I don't seem to find in both places. After searching the text from from the almond description though that one is all over the place.

The reply I got was their supplier was closed until after new years and they'd find out for me by the end of the week. So definitely private labeled.

The reselling doesn't affect my opinion of them since almost every company buys from a supplier, usually a few, and bottle under their label to sell their own fo's. Very few places make their FO's and many of those places still sell some that they re-bottle as well. And there are only a few commercial distillers of EO's, so most eo's come from the same few suppliers world-wide.
As for descriptions, I have seen the same ones reprinted virtually word for word on many sites, and some of them might even surprise you. But where the first one came from is a question too, since you will find it all over I am sure.
I'd just wait for the body safe info and see what happens. At least you were given a considerate/thoughtful gift! Good luck!

Oh it doesn't bother me that they're private labeled. Lots of things are private labeled, more than most people would know since there's not always an easy way to tell.

The quantity is the real bummer, I don't see my self needing FO's by the lb any time soon, but 10 mLs is only going to be good for 1 lb of soap or less depending on the usage rate. I'm going to bet on probably less. At least I know I can find them somewhere else in larger quantities.

According to their info they make their own FO's and offer private labeling. Assuming they're being honest, this might be the source.

There are 5 major fragrance manufacturers in the US. The link above does not look like a major fragrance manufacturer.

I agree with Irena on both posts. I didn't realize that the company you spoke of only offered 1/3 oz bottles. That isn't even enough for one pound in my opinion either, I generally use .8 oz ppo. while I could see 1/3 oz in some eo's working well, I don't think too many fo's would. Maybe you can blend a few to come up with some good soap scents. I think I'd try that, assuming they are body safe.

Oh, and you'd be surprised at how fast you can grow into using a pound of FO! It is usually quite a bit less expensive to buy in greater quantity, and since it stays good for some time, even buying a pound now and using it throughout the year is usually a cost effective strategy. Something to consider anyway.
