What do commercial soaps have that leaves a fragrance on the skin that my soap doesn't? The soap smells great and I would like it to linger on me after my shower, but there isn't even a hint of it on my skin.

Most commercial soaps are syndet bars with a lower pH. The fragrance is normally added after triple milling. Depending on fragrance used and how much, the fragrance of handmade soaps can last on the skin for a bit.

Is there anything you DON'T know Irena? LOL Thank you. Not sure what I am gonna do though. The fragrance of my birthday cake bar is pretty strong as it is, so I don't think I should add any more to it. Same goes for my DD's soap bar. I guess it will just have to be a hit or miss. As long as they look great and smell great, that's all that really matters anyway right? ;)

I don't know everything Amber, but I've been soaping and researching for a very long time. :)
Sometimes it helps if you try the same fragrance from a different vendor or use the upper safety range of the fragrance. I weight everything to make sure.
