Teach Soap

I looked at BrambleBerry's Fragrance Calculator for Lemon Essential Oil usage. However I'm a little confused. It says for 32 ozs. of soap I would need:
Light Scent; 2 teaspoons or 2 TABLEspoons
Med Scent; 3 teaspoons or 3 TABLEspoons
Strong Scent; 4 teaspoons or 4 TABLEspoons

There is a big difference in teaspoons and tablespoons. Why would the usage rate for both be the same?

Irena, I am not sure about the BB site, but the IFRA max usage rate for lemon eo in soap is 5%, so you can calculate the max yourself.

Didn't mean to insult you, just wasn't sure you had the usage rate to calculate it.
But, for sure you are right! It is a huge difference. I also find it VERY odd that they would even use teaspoons and tablespoons as a measurement, especially since AM is ALWAYS commenting about using grams vs ounces for small measurements and using weights for all measurements d/t accuracy. Seems her entire website is not practicing all it preaches!

I do have to say though, I have seen a blog post or twenty-two (including some BB ones) that gave a usage rate for eo's that was actually over the IFRA amount. So I never go by the vendor recommended amount, I always calculate my own.

You didn't insult me. For people that don't do their own calculations and use this chart instead could end up with way too much EO or FO, which could be irritating. The calc should be updated with correct info.

Why not write to BB? Maybe it was just a programming error.

Good catch, Irena! Looking at the output, it looks like the usage rates recommended correspond to the Tablespoon measurements. So I don't think this turned out to be dangerous in this case, but it's definitely wrong -folks using the teaspoon recommendation would just have a much lighter than expected scent.

Whew! I've wondered about this for awhile and wasn't sure why people seemed to rave about this calculator because it kept showing me the teaspoon and tablespoon amounts as being the same. Then I realized that most folks go by ounces so I've just stopped looking at the tsp/tbls part

As for why I never mentioned it - I thought I was the problem and was just reading the results wrong somehow.

I have noticed this about BB's fragrance calculator too! Like MingoFan, I wasn't sure if I was reading it wrong somehow, or if there was some critical fact that I was missing when I put in my amounts.
