Teach Soap

I'd like to start this by saying I'm in Canada, so I unfortunately can't use most of the awesome fragrance suppliers that are talked about her (I could but shipping is killer). I have a place I get my fragrances from for my MP soap (NDA) and the listings say safe for 'soap' it doesn't specify which kind. I want to start making CP soap (and will try several batches unscented before I start with that) but I contacted them to see if they had any information about their fragrances in CP..turns out they don't have any information about that..ok fine, but what bothers me about this email is..the person replying to me added that "I should think it would be ok, because you add fragrance after saponification" Um..after it saponifies, it's soap, so how do I add fragrance to that?! I'm pretty sure they don't know what they're talking about..since we know that lye is still present at trace, correct? If it wasn't still present then soap at trace wouldn't still be caustic.

SO..does anyone have any experience with NDA fragrance oils in CP? OR do you know where I can get CP tested fragrances in Canada?

When you make m&p soap you add the FO after saponification. When you make Hp soap, you add the fragrance after saponification. When you make cp soap you do not. This is a company that is used to m&p soap and candle supply. If the fragrances are body safe, they will be safe in cp soap too, however they can, and sometimes do, cause ricing, seizing or a fast trace, depending what is in them. And you will not know their max usage rate it seems. So it is a big fat trial and error. It is much better and easier to find a soap supply place that has tested their fo's in cp soap and can help you out with the rates and info.
My suggestions would be two-fold. One; you can check on the scent review board and see if the company you want to buy from is listed, then see what their fo reviews say. And twol you can contact Margo (just pm her) and see if she can help you in locating a supplier since she is also a Canadian soaper, and even has a b&m store where she offers classes.

Sign up for this scent review forum. http://soapscentreview.obisoap.ca/ Lots of reviews for different vendors and different fragrances there. Be aware that you cannot sign up with a free email address like i.e. Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, Live, t-mail, free AOL etc. You need a paid email address. It's a great resource.

Thank you both! I've checked out a few different places that I'm aware of and none of them have actually *tested* their fragrances in CP.

I'll try and set up my ISP email and check out the soap review board. Hopefully that will be what I need.
