I don't know why I've never asked this before...
I know the general guideline for quantity of EO/FO is approx 0.7 oz per pound of oils. So, if you are making a scent blend of two EOs, would you use 0.7 for each or 0.7 total?? I've always assumed it was 0.7 total but it would be easier to calculate if it was 0.7 oz for each fragrance. For some blends I've always used a 2:1 ratio (ie-mint to rosemary) but the math of trying to figure out a 2:1 ratio that adds up to 0.7 oz always defeats me (God help me when I use 3 or 4 EOs or FOs).

And related to that---for something with a strong scent (like rosemary and mint) would you use less than 0.7??

It's total.

I work with % and it's much easier. .5 oz PPO is roughly 3% 1 ounce is 6% (actually 6.25 but close enough). .7 ounce is roughly 4%

So if my recipe is 1000 grams of oils and I'm using 4% fragrance strength then I would use 20 grams of each fragrance for a total of 40 grams.

Hope this helps!

ETA: I sometimes mix my blends in larger quantities and then pour out the amount I need for a given recipe.

That's a good idea about mixing up a bigger batch of blends! Why have I never thought of that?? I reckon I need to get some glass bottles so I can do that...
