Teach Soap

This is likley a silly question but here goes...

When figuring out my FO's and EO's amounts are they calculated using the batch amount, lye/water and oils or do these calculators use only the oils to fragrance ratio?

Just in case I try and figure it out on my own!

Fragrance amounts are usually calculated on the oil weight only. So if you were using a scent at .75 oz per pound of oil, you'd need 1.5 oz for a 2# batch of soap (2# being the oil weight)

When I talk about doing a 2 pound batch, I mean the entire batch is 2 pounds so I should only use the weight of oils for calculating! Thats what the soap calc did for me then..now it makes sense that it said to use 1.3 oz for my 2 pound batch.

Its confusing if you are wanting a certain amount to fit the mold but you have the think about it in oils and waters and than figure out your totals I figured that part the hard way when I put a recipe into soapcalc and had way too much soap for my mold. It wasn't until I really looked at the #'s that I realized what happened!

I can see EO having diffenent level use, don't understand why FO's would
