Teach Soap

I recently saw that WSP will discontinue carrying their Basil oil (it was discussed in a blog post of theirs) because the IFRA posted something on their site recently banning certain, i guess ingredients may be the correct term. Now I read the thing that IFRA released (#45) and "basil essential oil" was not stated specifically so I can only assume that there may be an additive that is banned.

Questions:
1. does anyone else use basil oil and have you heard about this?
2. would it be all basil EO or is it possible that different companies may have different formulas which do not contain said banned ingredients and therefore it does not apply to them? I ask because i order mine from another vendor and am waiting on a response from them too.

I am a little sad because i really like basil oil and think it brings a lot to the table as far as depth of scent so I am just trying to work through this new discovery......

It's not an additive in Basil EO that's banned. It is Estragole, which is naturally found in Basil, that is banned because of it's possible link to cancer.

There is another Basil EO's that does not contain Estragole, but the kind WSP was carrying did, so they discontinued it.
