Teach Soap

Hi All,

I have been making room freshener spray using distilled water, essential oils and a bit of alcohol (in the form of high proof vodka). The scent does not seem to linger very long. Does anyone know of an additional ingredient that will make the scent last longer in the air? I'd like to stay away from synthetics if I can.

It depends which essential oils you are using. Some don't last long like citrus oils. Try adding an anchor like litsea, vetiver or patchouli.

I've heard of propylene glycol being used as a fragrance fixative, and though it's on the FDA's list of generally recognized as safe ingredients (it's used in foods), it is a synthetic.
